The Chinese Cultural Revolution

This new addition to the PERSPECTIVES ON MODERN WORLD HISTORY series recounts the historical and cultural events leading up to and following the Chinese Cultural Revolution, from 1966 to 1976. The text addresses many issues surrounding the event, such as the impact and legacy of Mao Zedong, the revolution?s impact on the Chinese educational system, and how the revolution affected the status of Deng Xiaoping. Personal narratives from people touched by the revolution, including a young girl who joined the Red Guards and an urban family that was forced to move to a farm in the countryside, are also featured.
